OPENROAD 270 Plus Awning — the ultimate car awning for those demanding maximum coverage on Aussie 4WD tours, beach days, and off-grid camps. Boasting a massive 14㎡ of shelter, this oversized 270 degree awning is built from tough 230gsm Oxford polyester. Powered by our next-gen Eclipse Shade Technology™, it blocks harsh UV rays better than standard PU coatings, delivering a cooler, darker retreat beneath its expansive footprint.

When the weather turns, your massive campsite is fully covered. Featuring a 3000mm waterproof rating and a click-in drainage pole that creates a positive fall, rain sheds fast with less sag, less flap, and no “puddle tray” surprises. Plus, a zippered D-door with a waterproof skirt provides easy access to your tent. We’ve also integrated dimmable, three colour-adjustable LED light strips, letting you dial in the perfect ambience for entertaining under your 270 awning.

Built for real-world conditions, this heavy-duty 270 degree awning was wind-tested in Melbourne — rated 30 km/h freestanding and 60 km/h pegged. It is reinforced with dual-layer aluminium swing arms and heavy-duty hinges to provide rock-solid stability for that massive 14 sqm coverage. Complete with a full hardware kit, mounting this premium car awning is easy across crossbars, T-slot racks, platforms, and bed racks, giving you the ultimate large-scale basecamp anywhere you roll.

Rear Tailgate Clearance (Will it hit the awning?)

Rear Tailgate Clearance (Will it hit the awning?) Whether your tailgate will clear the awning depends on your roof rack height and how high your tailgate opens. As a rule, you’re good to install if:

A=Roof rack height above the vehicle
B=Tailgate open height
B < A + 2.5 cm
If you’re unsure, send us your vehicle model and roof rack setup — we’ll help confirm fitment.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

OPENROAD TIPS & WARNINGS

WIND WARNING

Freestanding awnings should always be secured using the supplied guy ropes and support poles during windy conditions.

PROPER INSTALLATION

Ensure all mounting hardware is tightened correctly and regularly checked before travel or offroad use.

WEATHER CONDITIONS

Heavy rain, strong wind and storms can place excessive stress on awning arms and mounting systems. Pack away during extreme weather conditions.

OPENROAD TIP

For maximum lifespan, always allow the awning to dry completely before long-term storage.

WATCH THE FULL WALKTHROUGH

When you roll the awning back, push each hinged arm toward the housing so the fabric and zipper stay aligned — this prevents the canvas from bunching and makes the zipper easy to close. Tip: do one arm at a time and don’t force the zipper; realign and try again.
